Club DJs acquired the promotional remixes on August 2, 8 and 15, whereas they were launched to retailers on August 22 in maxi-CD and double vinyl formats. Contemporary club music was inspiration behind the remixes with Calderone including tribal beats and synths round Madonna's vocals. In his evaluate of Madonna's 2001 compilation GHV2, Cinquemani praised the one's "retro membership beats and vintage synth sound". Ethan Brown, from New York magazine, stated that the music "elicits memories of previous pop odes to dance tradition", and praised its "giddy mix of electro-bounce, campy vocoder chants, and funky keyboard squeals". Sal Cinquemani from Slant Magazine called it Madonna's finest dance observe since "Vogue", also evaluating it to her 1985 single, "Into the Groove". Madonna was disillusioned, publishing a letter about the leak on Icon, the journal released quarterly for her official fanclub.
